Buzz about Sonoda's Sushi

We are genuine sushi lovers and heard all the reviews went there, waited for a bit and got seated. we found the decor very plain and noisy but the food was average. We absolutly LOVED the tofu soup but the noise really put us off a bit. I dont know what the one in Denver is like but this particular restaurant could spend some money modernising the seating in bar area. The kitchen is plain and the staff are great but I found we spent far more than we did at about 3 other sushi/japanese eating places. What really put the boot in was they gave us a club card for membership to earn points towards eating there and asked us to join on line as it was 'easier' but when I tired, it told us that we needed an email of the person who reccomended it to us so, we lost the points on $79 worth of food purchased/consumed. I thought that was a great ripp off as the internet page would NOT process the membership (limited period to do) points) and we decided to not go back there again. Katsuya is the best by far in food quality, hospitality, comfort and atmostphere. Usually we get all we want for about $50- $60 and get to even take some home for lunch the next day. We found Sonadas to be average, noisy and expensive.

Did you ever see that really horrible movie with Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew McConaughey about him never leaving his parents' house and then she takes him to the sushi place and tells him it's like having an orgasm? Yeah, we threw up in our mouths, too. But, here's the great thing: some sushi is really good (maybe not orgasm worthy, thank goodness) and some of that really good sushi is in Aurora. The Sonoda's in Aurora is probably the least impressive-looking of their 4 metro-area locations, but the quality does not suffer a bit. The sushi is fresh, relatively inexpensive and can be served with a wide variety of booze, especially during Happy Hour. Best part: SJM and MM don't live in Aurora and will not be frequenting this establishment.
