My husband and I took two couples to The White Buffalo Grill for a business dinner.
The room has 360 degree views of mountain tops and other casinos. It's attractive. We ordered wine and then dinner. My husband and I ordered the Sirloin medium rare. The dinners came and both of our steaks were well done, dry as shoe leather. The waiter promptly took back the food with apologies. We asked our guests to please continue eating so that their food wouldn't get cold. We waited and waited and waited for our dinners. Our guests were uncomfortable because they were close to being finished before our dinners finally came. The steaks were okay...medium, not med. rare, but they tasted fine. My au gratin potatoes were good. The sauteed mushrooms were tasteless. Our waiter said that he had spoken with the manager and that there would be comps. We assumed that the two tardy dinners would be comped. Instead, the waiter appeared with two desserts and six plates. The desserts were tasty, but we each got a tiny nibble...honestly, it was embarrassing. I will never go there again even though I live six miles from the town of Black Hawk. I had never been there before and will never go again.

I've eaten at the WBG two times. First time (late 2009), the food was decent and the sevice was sub-par. The second time (late 2010), nothing had changed. Everyone in our dinner party (6) ended up sick the next morning. I have been eating amodium for three days. I will never eat at the WBG again! Wow, I paid $36 for a piece of meat that made me sick, but heck I lost 7 lbs!

  • Misconceptions on dining in Black Hawk have been made. People seem to picture $4 all-you-can-eat prime rib buffets. Although cheap prime rib exists in Black Hawk, so does fine dining and we found it at The White Buffalo Grille.
