Before you even walk through the door of Carl’s the painted windows tell you that this is a Diner. Advertising burgers (“Made Rite”), burritos, hot dogs and “famous” chili, the hand-drawn signs perfectly match the interior’s nostalgic décor. By and large, the food is tasty, if nothing special, except for the burgers, which more than live up to their billing. It is open for lunch only, and can get a tad crowded, but the cooks keep up with aplomb.
