Gejo's IV is known for it's hand-tossed and slate oven-baked pizzas and prides itself in using only fresh ground beef from Tony's Market just down the road. The place picks up for Happy Hour, full of mostly local 40-somethings en route from work. The restaurant was recently remodled and has run fairly smoothly for 29 years with a seasoned staff and they seldom have a wait. Though all entreés come á la carte, they come at affordable prices (free in the case of the pizza at Happy Hour) and anything can be halved at no extra charge.

We went to Gejo's original last night. They say they reopened last week, and that the food is the same as it used to be. I was sadly disappointed. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat; I LOVED their pizza. Last night we tried their cheese sticks for an app, and while they were good, the portion size is probably half of what they used to serve. We had a sausage pizza, which used to be my favorite across the board. It did NOT taste like the old pizza. To begin with, they do not use the same type of sausage. It is now a spicy sliced sausage, not the crumbly kind. The sauce was different, and I swear the crust was different too.
My husband had the fettucini alfredo. It was horrible! Watery, and tasted of garlic, but no cheese flavor whatsoever. My brother ordered the fried ice cream as dessert, and after a 15 min wait for it (because they forgot it, we were told), it dissapointed as well. If it was covered even a quarter of the way with crunchy, I'd be surprised.
Service was really slow, and though we did not make a big deal out of it, someone did apologize twice, saying they were short in the kitchen. Overall, it took us 2 hours to finally get out of there.
I was really looking forward to having my favorite pizza again, and instead ended up being a disappointing night.
