How did you get into brew mixology?

Legnard: I went to CSU in Fort Collins for Vet school. And I decided about junior year that I didn’t want to be a vet and I would have a degree in microbiology…what the heck was I going to do with that? And beer was a neat thing and, at that time, I took a home brewing class with a buddy. It was off campus because they couldn’t have a brewing class on campus.

My buddy had to drag me to the home brew class because it was on a Monday night and all I wanted to do was watch football and drink beer. And he said, “Well, you can drink beer and make beer and watch Monday night football.”

So basically, in a nutshell, you found out that you liked beer more than treating sick animals?
Exactly. Then I opened a brewery in Fort Collins.
