Is it safe to say that you are the “official brewmaster” at Blue Moon?
Legnard: Well, at Sandlot. Don’t get confused: The Blue Moon Brewing Company at the Sandlot is one thing, and then Blue Moon as a whole has Keith Villa. He does the big picture stuff, he handles the responsibility for the brewing that happens in Golen and Montreal…so I am in charge of things here at the Sandlot.
Yeh, but didn’t you come up with the ingredients for Blue Moon?
Keith actually worked with us on that. And the way it worked out is that Keith has a Ph.D. in brewing science from Belgium. His project was to come up with something new and exciting and they figured they can experiment down at the Sandlot with some new beers back in 1995. And that way it wouldn’t be as big of a deal if something went wrong, they can always blame us [laughs]. So when we first started, we were just the Sandlot Brewery at Coors Field. It was originally set up to brew beers specifically for the baseball stadium.
