Denver's top restaurants serve up some flavor and fun on Sunday
Great tastes from Denver's top restaurants, live bands, hula hoops, street performers, tasty beverages, and a good ole' pie eating contest were the ingredients that made EatDenver's huge foodie event the thing to be at this weekend. The parking lot at Union Station was filled with those looking for a little taste of heaven, and a reason to get out and enjoy the spectacular almost summer weather on Sunday.
Now in its fifth year, The Big Eat included top-notch Denver eateries such as HBurger, Root Down, Steuben's, Jonsey's, Rialto Cafe, Marco's Coal-Fired Pizza, El Camino, Euclid Hall and more!
Those who attended could peruse the different tables and snatch up a small plate featuring a creation from each restaurant. Everything from cotton candy to profiteroles filled with goat cheese mousse and spring pesto was available for the public's tastebud enjoyment. The Steuben's truck was parked next to the tents serving a tempura bacon green tomato slider with sriracha mayo and fries, providing a little representation for the food truck revolution that has swept not only Denver but the nation.
Folks who attended also enjoyed some live music from a few local musicians including Marty Jones and the Unknowns and the Highland Ramblers. It was the best way for anyone to exercise their inner foodie over the weekend!—Josh Barrett, Special to Metromix
