Denver's Valentine's Day dating handbook

Can’t you feel the love in the air? Cupid is busy sharpening his arrows, Hallmark is stocking up on Russell Stover’s and Metromix is saving your butt, big guy. If you haven’t heard, Valentine’s Day is around the corner and you should start your planning now.

Don’t think you can call up any restaurant on Feb. 14 and actually get a table. After all, this is the day that will be held over your head for the rest of your life—if you don’t do a good job, you’ll always be reminded of it with every future bicker.

We have narrowed down Valentine’s dates into three groups depending on which one you fall under—broke, not-so-broke and rolling in the dough.

10 dates for $10

Crud-a-dud. Valentine's Day is here and you're checking account is more scarce than underwear is in Hollywood. It is okay—you can still show that special someone in your life how much you care without spending loads of money. We have compiled a list of our favorite restaurants in Denver that offers menu items for under $10. They aren't the classiest of restaurants but the food is still satisfying...and hey, they're inexpensive.

20 dates for $20

You're middle of the road on this one. You can take your date out to a so-so dinner to show them how much you care on Valentine's Day but that's about it. It's cool, it's cool—we're sure they're not with you for your money, but for your personality and Prince Charming looks. Instead of going to a restaurant that has someone in the bathrooms handing you warm towels or to a complete dive restaurant—you can go to a restaurant that has a good vibe, great menu and a little zap of romance. We have picked out our favorite restaurants in the $16-$25 price range.

30 dates for $30

So the economy in 2009 didn't effect your bank account like it did for the rest of us. That is a great thing, but that also puts you in a sticky situation for Valentine's Day. Your date knows that you have the dough, so if you don't shell it out on V-Day, they might translate that as you not caring. Yes, it stinks that you have to spend money to show them you care, but that's the way this holiday goes. Luckily for you, Metromix picked out 30 of the most swankiest restaurants in Denver for your big date.
