Mr. Claypool is a critic. This is his OPINION. Good grief.

I really enjoyed the food and surroundings at Terrace View. I'm surprised to read your comments about the menu pricing. I find it reasonable specially for such fresh, organic and local ingredients. This week-end, my husband and I had lunch for the first time at the Olympia Kebob House. The kebob, french fries and a glass of wine was the same price as my lunch at Terrace View. The difference was the service at Terrace View was friendly, attentive, great setting and everything is new.

lukboa - I'm sorry you disagree with me. I am just calling it like it was. Yes, I've had plenty of European wine. In fact, I would say French Bordeaux is my favorite wine, however I have had dozens of different kinds of French pinot noir. Despite what I encountered while I was here, I am pulling for the place and hope they can improve.

I respectfully disagree with lukboa's opinion that this review was "mean spirited". The reviewer was complimentary about several items on the menu and even made favorable comments on a fish dish that had scales in it (which is a cardinal sin for any chef). While olives are usually stored in liquid, I have had dry martinis where the bartender simply pulled the olives out and plopped them in my drink so covered in olive juice that the net effect was to make the drink taste more like a dirty martini. I've also seen unfavorable diner reviews of this restaurant on other websites. So unless all of these people are "mean spirited" or "foolish", it seems to me that the issue here is a restaurant that's having some performance issues in its first few weeks.

A few questions for you since you seem to be a "critic". Have you ever drank wines from Europe before, I sincerely doubt that a restaurant this new would have two bottles of wine on their wine list open for three days, with a limited selection I find your critique to be a bit naive and frankly foolish. I don't know but a wine list with only a few wines by the glass would be highly unlikely to keep a pinot noir and a cab open for three days and not sell at least 4 glasses in three days. I think probably you are used to drinking Australian or American wines and your palate is not educated enough to taste a European wine.

If you are sitting at the bar drinking a gin and tonic, why didn't you have the courtesy to tell the bartender that the tonic didn't taste right, it seems to this reader that it may be ok to say that the tonic didn't taste right, but to bash a place and not try to help them see the problem make it look like you were out to take them down with a mean spirit. I can't tell by your picture but the martini didn't look dirty and in all my days I have never seen olives that didn't come in juice. All this is to say that I think your review was unprofessional and mean spirited. I had trouble finishing your review. I have been to The Terrace View and I think you could learn a bit on how to review a restaurant by reading the PD or RFT critics, they might be tough on a restaurant but they are never mean spirited.
