Lulu's Electric Cafe: User Reviews

After 14 years Lulu's Electric Cafe has tweaked their name to LuLu's Coffee and Bakehouse and moved just a few blocks west to 86th and Townshipline Rd.

We've added a few new drinks, like the traditional Italian Cappuccino, Homemade Italian Sodas and some Specialty Sodas like, Dublin Dr. Pepper, Cheerwine and Butterscotch Root Beer. We also added some new food items; Gluten free quiche and bread, Spicy Roast Beef Sandwich, Roasted Veggie Wraps, and our new Garden Ranch Pasta Salad.

With our move we were able to add some new "green" features as well. We now have all LED lighting in our charming modern dining room and kitchen, as well as, new low flow water tanks, and high efficiency heat pump. We were even able to use some reclaimed costruction materials.

If you like supporting local INDY-pendent Coffee Shops please come check us out. We have all the old favorites in a clean inviting atmosphere.

I feel a bit silly that I didn't give Lulu's Electric Cafe a shot until yesterday. I live just a trip, stumble and fall away from it, after all. It's in the same strip mall on 86th Street that contains New Age People, Global Gifts, Istanbul Cafe and Smee's Place, among other entertaining capitalist ventures. There is truth in advertising. They do, indeed, have electricity at Lulu's. I ordered the hummus plate. It comes with a bowl of yummy chickpea goodness, a bagel (toasting of bagel optional), a pile of black olives, a stack of lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and equally sliced cucumbers. All was pleasing.

The food is affordable (my hummus plate was $4.95) and excellent stuff for the money. The electricity didn't flicker once. I'll be returning often.
