Finishing Touches: Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey
The evening finished off with a glass of Stranahan's Whiskey and a demonstration on the proper drinking techniques by Norris. "A lot of people thought we were pretty crazy," conceded Norris of the prospect of making whisky in Colorado. Adding to the uniqueness of Stranahan's is the distilling process that uses 100% malted barley as compared to other American whiskeys that all contain at least some corn. If you were afraid that Stranahan's might have been getting slighted as far as the courses went, Norris explained that the trout had been smoked with wood chips from Stranahan's barrels, quail was cooked with a whiskey pan juice and there was whiskey in the caramel used in the dessert, not to mention the aforementioned special Ten FIDY aging process. "This is kind of like a bunch of rebels here," said Norris. "Duo has really taken a lot of chances and done a lot of different things."
