"Sex and the City" heats up cupcake cravings

Blame it on “Sex and the City.” The show that made Manolos, cosmos and promiscuous sex must-have accessories for the savvy, single gal, also started a cupcake revolution. From the second that Carrie and Miranda bit into their pink-frosted (of course) vanilla cupcakes sitting on a bench outside of New York City’s Magnolia Bakery, women and secure men everywhere collectively thought, “Damn, it’s been a long time since I had a cupcake.” And then together, we all rushed out to eat them.
Like any trend, cupcake-centric bakeries first started sprouting up in the U.S. perimeters of New York and L.A. in the late 1990’s. Then they worked their way into mid-America in the 2000’s. Now, if you’re hankering for a cupcake in Denver, you’ve got plenty of choices. But with options come responsibility, our friends. We decided to get a Metromix mom a chance to sample some cupcakes so we truly know which ones out sugar the competition.
Of the dozens of cupcakeries in the Denver area, who makes the very best?
