The restaurant contenders

The Set-Up:
Summer took a day off to make way for the ultimate cool-weather comfort food, mac and cheese. Steve’s Snappin’ Dogs was the setting for the ultimate mac and cheese-off on Saturday, August 15th. Some of the best restaurants around town competed to win the mac and cheese title (Sorry Kraft and Velveeta, your invite must have gotten lost in the mail).
Always eager to help out when it comes to cheese and/or pasta, Metromix finagled our way onto the judge’s table to taste these fine dining interpretations of the blue box staple. Something tells us that these creations weren’t made with orange powdery substances.
The Gabby Gourmet radio show broadcast the cheesy battle, while judges rated the dishes based on looks, taste, texture, cheesiness, originality and best overall. Lucky audience members also got to sample the goods. If you missed out and are craving some mac and cheese, most of the competing restaurants offer it on their menus. Except you’ll probably have to pay for it.
