And the winner is…
Snooze
2262 Larimer St.
Denver, CO 80205Eating breakfast at Snooze, you might feel like the band Weezer is about to burst through the door and start singing "Buddy Holly." It has the retro sort of feel of the Happy Days-set video, mixed with the modern interpretation of the band. We think this is a good thing, and, judging by the lines, apparently so does half of Denver. Aside from the vibe, the full bar - a rarity for a breakfast joint - probably has something to do with Snooze's popularity. Take a walk around Lodo at, oh anytime, and you'll see that Denver likes to drink. Wash down you kamikaze with their cakey pineapple upside down pancakes.

The Buff
1725 28th St.
Boulder, CO 80301Neighborhood: Pearl Street / Downtown
The Buff has long been considered Boulder's favorite breakfast spot. Expect a wait, especially on the weekends, but the dining room is large enough to move the crowds through at a fairly good pace. Enjoy a mimosa or bloody mary while trying to choose between the enormous omelettes, famous skillet dishes, or pancakes and waffles. The crowd also features a great people watching atmosphere, with the typical college campus mix of families, business professionals and hungover kids.
Lucile's
2124 14th St.
Boulder, CO 80302Neighborhood: Pearl Street / Downtown
To many people, New Orleans means one thing. No, not nipple flashing for cheap plastic beads – it means food. Fatty, buttery, luscious food. Lucile’s, set in a cheerful Victorian house since it opened in 1980, has developed a Creole menu that rivals the best of N’Orleans. For breakfast try Eggs Pontchartrain with a side of grits, or sleep late and savor their Crawfish Etouffee for lunch. Vow to spend an extra 10 minutes (OK maybe 30) on the treadmill and get an order of beignets.
The Hornet
76 Broadway
Denver, CO 80203The Hornet is an upscale diner in the hip and historic Baker District. With various happy hour specials and contemporary comfort food, the restaurant is as much a watering hole as it is an eatery. On Saturdays, The Hornet becomes a venue for local musicians with no cover and drink specials. The retro interior, marble bar and crisply attired wait staff give this place a veneer of class, but at the same time the proprietors won't mind if you want to cut loose, shoot some pool or just lounge. d
Breakfast King
1100 S. Santa Fe Dr.
Denver, CO 80223Breakfast King serves up your favorite diner food 24 hours a day. And if you like your diners to have a retro feel, this is the place for you. From the orange seats and wallpaper to the waitresses that looked like they stepped out of an episode of Alice, Breakfast King is a blast from the past. While they do serve the gamut of food - the menu is more like an encyclopedia - breakfast is what their indubitable forte. Definitely try the fresh cut hashbrowns.

Some solid choices but if anyone knows me, I'm all for Delectable Egg. Next year, this should be in "mix" for best breakfast.
