Worst service I've ever had

Avoid! Awful service!
It took an entire hour to get our food. Even then we had to waive down another waiter because ours had disappeared. When the food actually came it wasn't even what we had ordered.
We were upset enough to ask for the manager and after going past our tables several times he finally stopped.

He didn't even apologize for the service. When we told him we had been waiting for an hour he said we were "stretching it" and it was probably only 30 minutes. And after saying we would never come back he just said ok and walked off.

It total in took 2 hours from the time we went including waiting for a table, waiting for our food and waiting for the check. Even after speaking to the manager the waitress still took about 15 minutes to get the check.

Waited over an hour for meal

On a Saturday morning for breakfast, I went to Chef's Kitchen with one other person. Party of 2 seems easy enough to handle. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated we got waters right away and I ordered coffee. It took long enough for the coffee to come out that we were ready to order. When the server brought us the coffee she said she would be back to take our order. We waited for a while to order, as they were taking orders from other parties. I was watching the party that had been seated before us, assuming our food would come out shortly after theirs.

As we waited my coffee was only refilled once and we were never told if our order was coming out. At this point we have been in the restaurant an hour and we are growing even more hungry and wanting to get our busy day started. I couldn't even get our servers attention and had to ask another server where our food was. Then we waited again for our food.

When our food arrived (over an hour after we arrived) my omelet did not even have everything I had asked for in it. I sent it back to the kitchen and they added in what they forgot and microwaved it hot enough that I burned my tongue on it when I got it back. At this point we still hadn't received an apology and parties that were seated after us had eaten, paid, and left.

We immediately asked for our check and to speak with a manager. And again, surprise, we waited. While waiting, the manager was walking around doing various other things. Finally he came over, not apologizing, only asking, "what's up?" After telling him about our experience he accused us of lying about how long we had been waiting, did not ever apologize, still charged us for everything we ate, and did not even offer to compensate us in anyway. Then we waited AGAIN, to get our check and had to tell the server we wanted our change back immediately. That was the first time while we were there that anything was done within a reasonable timeframe.

Overall the service was terrible, the food was over priced, and we couldn't even enjoy our meal. In total we were in the restaurant for an hour and a half, just to get breakfast. I will not be going back.

Totally ignored

Does anybody work here? We were totally ignored, so probably overly critical of the food. Other restaurants want our business, so we'll go there.

One of my new favorites

My fiance and I finally ate at Chef's Kitchen last night. We moved to the neighborhood and after hearing wonderful things, we decided to test it out for ourselves. I friend of mine had recently visited and gave it just average reviews, so I really tried to go with an open mind and not expect too much.

Our service from the start was great, with a friendly hostess an waitress. They checked on us many times throughout the night (my fiance actually thought perhpas a few too many times) and made sure we had what we wanted at all times. I ordered the chicken lasanga (after reading a recommendation for it) and a side of hashbrowns iwth cheese and jalapenos. Now generally I wouldnt order these two things together, but they both sounded so good! Hashbrowns are some of my very favorite food and they were delicious here-crispy, but not greasy. Apparently that is one of their specialty items. I think its neat that they chose one of their specialty items to be kind of quirky, yet a favorite comfort food item.

My fiance ordered the Italian Grinder with cottage fries. His sandwich was awesome, but he wasnt 100% impressed with the fries, not because they werent good, but they just werent the wedge style he thought they might be. Good thing the hashbrowns were so massive and he could share those with me. The waitress gave me a great tip and told me to take my leftover hashbrowns home and fry them back up in a pan, and they would be just as good in the morning. I did just that and had a delicious breakfast!

The atmosphere is really simple and unassuming, yet intimate and classy at the same time. I felt extremely comfortable and taken care of, which really enhanced the dining experience for us. I cant wait to go back and try something else of the menu!

Never Again

The place was packed when we got there so we thought we were in for a good meal. Boy, were we wrong.

We had the fried pickles as an appetizer. The slices were so thin and small in diameter that you really could only taste the fried flour coating. The ranch dressing they came with was watered down.

One of us ordered the teriyakii salad and the other, the prime rib sandwich. The salad had waaay too much teriyaki sauce and I knew immediately that the noodles were straight from the Lipton Teriyaki noodle packages you can get at the grocery store. The rest of the salad was OK, but the "good" veggies (tomatoes, olives, etc.) were few and in tiny pieces.

The prime rib sandwich was cold and flavorless. We spotted some black mold on the lettuce garnish. It was quite possibly the worse prime rib ever encountered.

Oh, and the famous cookie jar with free chocolate chip cookies? Empty. There didn't even seem to be an effort to make more and refill it--even though the night was young and the place was packed. Perhaps the poor quality was due to the chef (or was it the owner?) who was busy drinking at the bar instead of watching the kitchen.

The best part of the dinner? The water.

A regular stop

Chef's Kitchen is a regular stop for me - 3-4 times a month at least. Their menu is wide ranging and their specials - frequently fish-centered are excellent. Prices are reasonable and the people are really friendly.

The best little restaurant no one has ever heard of...
By penguins_fly, January 14, 2009

Chef's Kitchen is really a diamond in the rough, it is locally owned, has excellent food and is reasonalby priced. Located in Beaverdale chef's kitchen is easy to drive right by. The menu features a variety of foods including Pizza, Pasta, Steak, Ribs, and hashbrowns. While I've had a lot of diffrent things and definitely a best value is the Prime Rib Sandwich which is a generous piece of prime rib served on toast at a very modest price. They also feature a modest selection of beer and wine and a full bar.

The atmosphere is relaxing and somewhat intimate in the small setting and service has always been excellent weather it's a table for two or a table for 12.

A restaurant Jem!

I loved the quaint ambience of this locally owned neighborhood restaurant. There is something on the menu for anyone! My favorites are the Chicken Lasanga and the Steak De Burgo. For dessert, try the creme brule! The owners are very nice and personally greet each table, which makes you feel very welcome! I will continue to eat here and tell all of my friends!

SANGRIA

Its been awhile since I have been to Chefs Kitchen. The one item from the menu I best recall is the Sangria wine. This wine is made in house. It contains a number of sliced and diced fruits. A wonderful summer evening drink.
