While mainstream success has eluded the lead singer of Rilo Kiley, singer/songwriter Jenny Lewis has long been one of indie’s most-celebrated vocalists. Her sultry voice, deftly mixing her country and pop influences, has already lent itself to numerous collaborations and solo albums, while each new Kiley project is met with a collective wave of anticipation. When we last saw her live, she exuded just the right blend of cooey sexiness with a down-home, “instant friend” vibe. Sarah Silverman opened with the funny.
