Nas, Damien Marley, Busta Rhymes and more
The rain may have stayed clear of Red Rocks Thursday night, but that didn’t keep a slew of big name hip-hop acts from starting up a lyrical storm between the amphitheater's crimson walls. Printed on the tour t-shirts was a saying, “Respect, represent, recognize,” as performers like Nas, Damian Marley, Busta Rhymes, Big Boi (of Outkast) , KRS-One, Reflection Eternal, Chali 2Na and more took the mic, it was hard to deny the tour anything but the three R’s.
It was one of the few hip-hop festivals to come through Red Rocks, but the sound amplifying venue clearly felt like home to many of the artists. “Coming to Colorado is like coming into a higher consciousness,” bellowed KRS-One.
Damian Marley and Nas both felt the night was worthy previewing a track off their jointly recorded album due out within the next year, and Tech N9ne made it clear Colorado was his second home.
