Nights in White Satin invade Red Rocks
Red Rocks Amphitheatre opened the 2011 concert series by welcoming The Moody Blues. The band has sold in excess of 70 million albums and have been awarded 14 platinum and gold discs. As of 2011, they remain active with one member from the original band dating back to 1964. Two other band members have been with the group since 1967. The Moody Blues members are: Justin Hayward, John Lodge and Graeme Edge.
The group last played to a sold-out crowd at Red Rocks in 1992 with The Colorado Symphony. The Moody Blues have been one of the most successful at selling out where ever they play. And that says a lot for a band that started in 1964.
As for their music, it speaks for itself. Just listening to them perform and watching the crowd around explains in part for their success. And when looking out over the audience and speaking with some of the fans a lot was said for the opening act of 2011. Red Rocks brought in the season with some amazing artists and more amazing songs. But what a way to start the season, a good date, maybe some great friends and family and especially the Nights in White Satin!
