Intimate crowd gets snowed in with radio rockers
Snow Patrol arrived in Denver just hours before the actual snow Friday, performing a moving, stripped-down set for a tiny group of Alice 105.9 fans.
Perhaps 40 people made the list for the show at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar. The Irish/Scottish rockers worked out a few tracks from their forthcoming album "Fallen Empires" before moving on to the international hits "Run" and "Chasing Cars." The spartan "stage" (really just a few chairs, instruments and mixing equipment) and decidedly non-rock 'n' roll surroundings only served to highlight singer Gary Lightbody's unique voice — the guy managed to summon all kinds of romantic angst and existential confusion to the back room of a DTC steakhouse. — Matt Farley, Metromix
