Inductees the Stooges
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted its class of 2010 in New York on Monday, March 15 in a ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria: prog-rockers Genesis (minus original lead vocalist Peter Gabriel, currently rehearsing for a new tour); proto-punk rockers the Stooges and their ageless frontman, Iggy Pop; Swedish disco-era superstars ABBA; early British invasion group the Hollies; reggae icon Jimmy Cliff; industry veteran David Geffen; and a whole slew of songwriters. Several guest performers, including Faith Hill, Rob Thomas, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and Phish's Trey Anastasio, took to the stage to perform the inductees' most famous songs—but predictably, it was Iggy Pop's shirtless antics that stole the show.
