Jackets came in handy at Red Rocks Amphitheater
Amos Lee and My Morning Jacket took to the Red Rocks stage Thursday night.
Riding on the success of his latest album, "Windows Are Rolled Down," Lee played introspectively. The laid back singer didn't pump the crowd up for headliners, My Morning Jacket, but instead provided good ol' folk-driven tunes which is perfect in an atmosphere like Red Rocks.
Once My Morning Jacket approached the stage the amphitheater filled with enthusiastic fnas. The minute lead singer, Jim James, hit the stage with head banging and a light show. Jumping from one side of the stage to the next he involved the entire 9,000-plus crowd.
Alt-country at its best the crowd sang in unison to new hit “Victory Dance” from the 2011 album Circuital and classic hit “Honest Man” from their 2001 album At Dawn. This band proved why they have been around for a decade and are still going strong. The crowd was happy to have a jacket at Red Rocks and this time it wasn't just because of the wind or rain.—Carly Rose Moser, Special to Metromix.
