English rockers bring "The Resistance" to Pepsi Center
Muse canceled their April show in Denver, but the boys from Devon more than made good Saturday night at Pepsi Center. With a staggering stage show and plenty of special effects, the prog rock triumvirate lit up the room with songs ranging from hits ("Resistance") to cult favorites ("Knights of Cydonia"). The band's initial stage set, which featured three separate platforms towering some 30 feet off the Pepsi Center floor, scored as one of the most mindbending and impressive in recent memory.
Openers Passion Pit certainly delivered on the hype surrounding them, but somehow the Cambridge dance-rock band seemed to fall short of the block-rocking tracks on their breakthrough album "Manners." The crowd, which seemed to like Passion Pit well enough but was perhaps not as well-versed in the deeper cuts as the band expected, may have played some part, but it also seemed that their stripped-down stage presence seemed out of place on Muse's epic stage.
