Lil Wayne's glistening grill at Comfort Dental Amphitheater
Lil Wayne's grill wasn't the only thing shining at the Comfort Dental Amphitheater Tuesday night. The 2011 KS107.5 Back to Skool Jam featured the likes of Lloyd, Far East Movement, Keri Hilson, Rick Ross and, of course, Lil Wayne. This show was jam packed with chart topping hits and hip hop beats that made the crowd bounce.
Opener Lloyd was a little softer than the rest of the Back to Skoolers but none-the-less got the crowd hyped for Far East Movement's chart topping hit “Like a G6.” The guys of Far East jumped back and forth across the stage dressed to impress and made the crowd burst into a dancing frenzy.
Up next was the sexy Keri Hilson hitting the stage with dancers, hot-pink coveralls and a gun shaped microphone— it was almost too hot to handle. The bright pink coverall quickly began to shed off of the star to reveal hotter-than-hot pants making the crowd almost reach their “Breaking Point.” Rick Ross brought everyone down to a less sex driven mode, if that is possible with his hit “Hustlin," bringing forth more of a gangsta vibe than the opening acts.
But all was just buildup for Lil Wayne. The minute the crowd got one glimpse of the long dreads and shiny grill the amphitheater exploded into screams for the multi-platinum recording artist. His stage presence could have just been enough but he added on a little pyrotechnics, skateboarding and some backup dancers for sex appeal. Blasting songs from his lastest album that dropped that day, "Tha Carter IV," Lil Wayne pulled out all the stops. It was a nonstop explosive experience for all that attended, but they may not be present in class today.—Carly Rose Moser, Special to Metromix.
