Metal giants devastate eardrums for KBPI’s mistletoe jam
Korn helped Denver celebrate 106.7 KBPI’s Mistletoe Jam Friday night only one way metal fans knew how: with flailing dreads, mind numbing bass, lethal guitar licks, and thousands of people screaming for more. Denver’s NuMetal fans packed The Fillmore Auditorium to show some holiday cheer in their own way — with mosh pits and rocker horns. KBPI delivered the biggest present to all who attended by roping in Korn as the headlining act for this year’s Jam, who put on an energetic and seamless performance for the crowd.
The openers No. 1 Left Standing took the stage and did a fairly decent job warming up the crowd, who had just come in from Denver’s frigid temperatures. Following was Novus Folium, a local band who KBPI rated "Best Band in Denver” this year. The band was more than happy to play for such a huge crowd. But the house was impatient for the final act, and cheered for Korn like it was an agricultural convention gone wrong. The band blew up the stage with crazy strobe effects, and a huge sound that wouldn’t relent playing many of their top hits. The band rocked their traditional ADIDAS threads and said little between songs, concentrating on delivering a brutal assault of metal. Rock fans in Denver got their big present delivered early on Friday night.
