Good ol' rock and roll in Boulder
Yes, we are talking about the Juliette Lewis the actress who starred in "Natural Born Killers," "From Dusk Til Dawn" and "What's Eating Gilbert Grape." And yes she rocked people's faces off in Boulder on Tuesday. Juliette Lewis is one talented lady; starring in a multitude of blockbuster films as well as TV shows, and has had a booming musical career for several years now. On Tuesday, Juliette Lewis came to the Fox Theatre with her new band The New Romantiques. Earlier this year Lewis split from her former band The Licks and continues to deliver gut-wrenching vocals with her new entourage of musicians. And make no mistake, the night was all about some good 'ol dirty rock and roll.
To start things off right, the band American Bang opened up the night. With undertones of the Black Crowes and a little Jet, this band from Nashville was simply good dirty rock. The band delivered a high energy stage presence that definitely warmed up the crowd. The Ettes were next on stage with more of a hipster rock with influences from the Black Keys. The band broke out all the stops that rock and roll should, tambourines included. The venue really started to come alive as Lewis and company took the stage. No special lights or video display was needed (or wanted) as Lewis cranked out the vocals to everyone's favorites. Sporting a feather covered jacket to accompany her black leather mini-skirt, tights, and heeled boots, Juliette Lewis didn't waist any time getting into the meat of things, with a vibrant stage presence. Juliette Lewis did not disappoint and left her mark of rock and roll in Boulder.
