Kittie, Coolio and Kottonmouth Kings get down with the clown
The Insane Clown Posse brought their traveling freakshow to the Fillmore Monday night, with all the creepy costumes, dark rhymes and flying soda the group has become (in)famous for over the past two decades.
Along for the ride were a slate of ICP's Pyschopathic Records labelmates (interchangeable, at least musically), plus pot-rappers Kottonmouth Kings, cutie metalheads Kittie and '90s hip-hop star Coolio. Kittie were perhaps the evening's most talented performers, laying down serious riffage that had even the most thugged-out rap fans headbanging. Coolio made no apologies for his past, crawling out of a bodybag as his set opened and dredging up his 1994 hit "Fantastic Voyage," much to the crowd's approval.
But of course, ICP was the main event. On a stage filled with wicked clowns and Faygo soda bottles, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope ran through a medley of violent cult hits spanning nearly 20 years, all while drenching the adoring crowd in soda. If Metromix's photos look blurry, that's because we were literally running for cover the whole time.
