Boulder DJs spin for a wicked party in SoCo
You might be asking, “A dance party at City Hall?” Well, yes and no. If you are thinking Mayor Hickenlooper is getting his groove on with a bunch of Colorado senators into the wee hours of the morning, you would be wrong. But if you are in the know, then you are aware of a hot new little venue in the South of Colfax nightlife district called "City Hall". On Friday night, this stylish new spot on Broadway just down the way from club Vinyl threw a pretty kickin’ dance party featuring the DJ duo Cobraconda out of Boulder. These guys have done a considerable amount of touring with their buddies in 3OH!3 and are exploding in the dance/pop music scene with their cutting-edge mixes.
The party started up late at City Hall, but as soon as it did the dance floor was filled. DJ Psyco warmed up the crowd with a fantastic mix of old school classic hip hop tracks to the latest pop heard on the radio. Soon to follow was DJ Chonz, well known for his one-hour “Traffic Jam” on KS 107.5. Many of the clubbers had come out to see DJ Chonz, well known for some hopping parties he has spun for around town. DJ Chonz had an extended set that kept things lively as people enjoyed drinks and the amazing dance space and party lights that makes City Hall such a fun club. Then the peak of the evening came when Cobraconda took the reigns at the turntables. The duo mixed a super creative and fun combination of songs ranging from Lady Gaga to the 80’s hair band Europe, as well as a little indie rock like Pheonix into their set. The crowd most likely could have danced all night and into the morning if the club didn’t have to close up at the usual 2 a.m. It was a crazy dance party, showing that SoCo is the new up and coming nightlife scene in Denver!
