Colbie confirms who she is dating and answers her fans questions!
It is always refreshing (and rare) to meet a celebrity and have them not act like a celebrity. This happened when Colbie Caillat visited Alice 105.9’s AT&T Sessions Studio for a live acoustic performance in front of a room full of fans. Colbie is currently on tour with Sheryl Crow and the duo is in town to play at Red Rocks.
Metromix.com was in the room before her fans came in and before she started to play over the air waves. She joked around with us, her band members and just had that humble vibe about her. She even laughed so hard when her band member and friend, Craig McIntyre spilt his cup of Starbuck’s coffee all over the studio while they were practicing. She helped him pick up and just had that relaxed, friendly nature about her.
And here we’re talking about someone who’s debut album “CoCo” landed at the No. 5 slot on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart and remained there for a long time. Her first hit single “Bubbly” remained No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Top 40 for two months—and it’s been certified platinum with over two million downloads to date. And yet, her attitude at Alice 105.9 was as if none of that has even happened yet. It isn’t because she isn’t grateful or anything—she is just sweet, charming and completely down-to-earth.
After playing her hit single “Realized,” she asked the room full of fans if we had any questions. One fan asked, “What inspired you to write songs?” And Colbie explained how her dad had that influence on her, “He told me how important it is to write your own songs. I always played guitar and wrote my first song when I was 19.” Then KOSI 101.1 personality, Jackie Selby asked her “Is it true that you and your back-up singer and guitarist Justin Long are dating? That’s what Wikipedia says.” Colbie and Justin’s eyes met and they both said “No, that’s not true.”
And yes, Metromix believed her at first...until she did indeed confirm that her and Justin are together. Isn’t that just so cute?
Then, being Metromix and all, we asked if she was planning on doing anything fun while she’s in Denver. She simply said “No. We just flew in and we’re flying out right after the show tonight. We don’t normally do that, but today we are.” Darn, we were hoping she’d join us for a couple cold ones after her show at Red Rocks.
Not only was Colbie humble and personable, she was also phenomenal live. Come on, you've got to admit that more often than not some musicians sound completely different when they’re live and not in a recording studio. Again, not the case with Colbie Caillat. Even Jackie Selby said “You sound exactly like you do on your albums!” And we couldn’t agree more. Colbie is truly talented and quite the role model.—Erica Boniface, Metromix
