Boys Like Girls, Cobra Starship touch down in Denver
Boys Like Girls might have been the headlining act, but it was disco-punk "it" band Cobra Starship that had fans dancing in the aisles Tuesday night at the Ogden Theatre.
Singer Gabe Saporta, a longtime leader of several bands who finally seems to have a hit on his hands with Cobra's new track "Good Girls Go Bad," worked the crowd like an early-'90s hip-hop star, complete with white high-tops and ironic dance moves. Keytar player Victoria Asher provided the sythns, as well as something for the guys in the front row to ogle.
That's not to say Boys Like Girls were slouches. From the moment the band took the stage, most of the house sang along with each lyric, and hits like "The Great Escape," "Love Drunk" and "Thunder" were perfect slices of arena rock: melodramatic, memorable and amped up for the live show.
