Beatles legend takes the stage in Denver on Thursday
In 1964, The Beatles undertook a tour of the U.S., and one of the dates on the tour was right here in Denver at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Tickets cost $6.60 back then and of the 9,000 tickets available, only 7,000 were sold. Fast forward 46 years later and Paul McCartney, singer and bassist for the band that is considered the most successful and influential band of all time is still rocking to thousands of screaming fans. Things were a little different this time around in comparison to the Red Rocks show, with some fans rumored to have paid in the thousands for club level seats, and Paul flying without his fellow Liverpool band members, and the demographic of the fans was just a tiny bit older. But the love for McCartney and his former musical endevours still brought quite the crowd to the Pepsi Center, and was still a showcase of musical mastery as anyone would expect. Paul McCartney played without an opening act on Thursday, ensuring there was plenty of time to play the wide array of hits from the Beatles as well as his former band Wings. McCartney played the show with his Hofner, the violin shaped bass guitar he is famously paired with. The band played a set that covered most of McCartney's musical career, from Beatles hits to some work off his most recent albums.
McCartney and Beatles fans flocked to the Pepsi Center from all over the globe. One group had made the trip all the way from Brazil to catch the tour. Another couple, Terri Lynn and Mark Young from Fort Lauderdale, Florida were the lucky winners of tickets from your very own metromix.com, and decided to see the show in beautiful Colorado. Young and old were sporting Beatles shirts, and couldn't contain their excitement to see Sir Paul play some of their favorite hits. McCartney didn't disappoint and left his mark on Colorado once again!
