Dance-rock bands keep the Fillmore bumping
Call it what you want: crunkcore, dance-rock, white-boy hip-hop or plain old '90s music. Whatever the hyphenated genre, Colorado's own 3OH!3 brought their mercilessly catchy pop style to the Fillmore Friday night, keeping the dancefloor packed and the ironic tough-guy rhymes flowing.
The young capacity crowd got everything they wanted and more: 3OH!3's Nat Motte was even lankier and more dynamic in person, and his partner Sean Foreman looked even more like a half-drunk Matt Damon. Call him the Jason Bourne of Boulder hip-hop.
In addition to a pair of anamatronic wolves with freaking laser beams for eyes, 3OH!3 was backed by 8-bit electro punks I Fight Dragons, Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes and Cobra Starship, the moonwalking dance-rock crew that blew the roof off the Ogden a few months ago. Fans went almost as crazy for Starship as they did for 3OH!3, throwing up their fanged "gang" hand sign by the hundreds.
