2010: the year of Gaga
Maybe they should just rename them the Video Monster Awards. Lady Gaga, who has already won three Video Music Awards, received a record 13 nominations for this year's VMAs, including Best Pop Video, Best Female Video and Video of the Year. Eminem received eight nods, the most for any male artist, and Justin Bieber leads a crowded field in the Best New Artist category, where he'll square off (and, c'mon, he's gotta win, right?) against Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Jason Derulo and Broken Bells. But who cares, really? This year, the VMAs will be all about the Gaga.
The MTV Video Music Awards will air Sunday, Sept. 12 on MTV, live from from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Gaga is not confirmed to perform yet—only Eminem, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Drake, B.o.B. and Florence and the Machine have been announced so far—but we're betting she's in negotations with MTV as we speak.
