Promoters give a preview of Denver's newest venue
The revamped Broomfield Events Center opened its doors Wednesday for a preview that left many wondering if they were even standing in the same building.
1STBANK Center, set to begin hosting shows on March 5, was completely reworked to create "the state's premeire mid-sized venue," said Chuck Morris of AEG Live, which is partnering with Kroenke Sports Enterprises to run the venue. In addition to bands like Furthur and Muse, 1STBANK will host the Denver Roller Dolls and children's events.
In addition to cosmetic changes, the venue now boasts more "points of sale" (i.e. bars), better lines of sight to the stage and a slew of well-appointed VIP boxes. Promoters were especially proud of a wing-shaped projection system that allows anything from theater-style curtains to computer graphics to surround the stage. The venue can be arranged to host crowds of up to 6,500 people, Morris said.
