- Comfort Dental Amphitheatre - 6350 Greenwood Plaza Blvd. - Englewood
Back in its fifth year with a crazy fresh batch of artists hitting the stage for Linkin Park's 'Projekt Revolution' tour. The tour is headlined with, of course, Linkin Park and Chris Cornell, The Bravery and Ashes Divide on the main stage. Performing on the littler "Revolution" stage are Atreyu, 10 Years, Hawthorne Heights, Armor for Sleep and Street Drum Corps. The doors open at 12:30 p.m., and even if you saw Linkin Park last year on their Projekt Revolution tour, the nu-metal heroes are promising a few new surprises for their 2008 trek, including a chance to buy a “digital souvenir package” featuring MP3s recorded at tonight’s show.
The Dresdon Dolls
- The Ogden Theatre - 935 E. Colfax Ave. - 17th Avenue / Up Town
The Dresdon Dolls are to the music world as Casa Bonita is to Colorado. A huge deal in other words. Instead of sticking to mainstream rock, The Dolls took to the style of punk cabaret. One that won many fans over since hitting it big a couple years ago. They are not only fantastic musicians, but performers. Every Dresdon show you go to, you know it will always be different. And for a little news on the group, Amanda Palmer is going to release a solo album, "Who Killed Amanda Palmer," which is produced by Ben Folds. You better bookmark this night and get your tickets before it sells out.
Feist
- Fillmore Auditorium - 1510 Clarkson St. - 17th Avenue / Up Town
Even though superstar, Feist, was uber thankful to win five Junos, this Indie artist said the best day of her life was when she was on Sesame Street. She did the "1 2 3 4" with the Muppets. That is really exciting. What is even more exciting is the fact that she is coming to the Fillmore this summer. You better act fast and get your tickets now before it is too l late.
George Thorogood & The Destroyers
- Fillmore Auditorium - 1510 Clarkson St. - 17th Avenue / Up Town
George Thorogood "Bad To The Bone": "On the day I was born, the nurses all gathered 'round. And they gazed in wide wonder at the joy they had found. The head nurse spoke up said 'leave this one alone'. She could tell right away that I was bad to the bone. Bad to the bone. B-b-b-bad. B-b-b-bad." Go search through your parents CD collection. We guarantee you that George Thorogood is in the mix somewhere. But in all reality, no matter how old you are, you have rocked out to George before. He is not just bad to the bone, he is bad ass. Rock on party people.
The Mars Volta
- Fillmore Auditorium - 1510 Clarkson St. - 17th Avenue / Up Town
A Google search for “The Mars Volta sucks” returns about 387,000 hits. A similar search for a much higher-selling artist, such as “Justin Timberlake sucks,” brings only about 304,000. It is clear that The Mars Volta has as a huge following and they really are just beginning. Stay tuned and get pumped for their May 18th show at The Fillmore.
