Serious Funk-tastic Goodness at Boulders Pearl Street
June 10, 2009
Does Boulder seriously need to get any funkier than it already is? The quick answer is, yes. And, to keep the momentum going, Pearl Street in Boulder kicked off their yearly Bands on the Bricks summer concert showcase with, yes, some funk.
There might not have been a better band to do this than Funkiphino, an 11-piece funk band whose unbelievable stage presence kept the crowd dancing like maniacs right in the heart of Pearl Street. The band mainly played infamous funk licks such as 'Play That Funky Music' so the crowd could sing along as they rocked it out. At one point, half the band joined the crowd right in the middle of the dance party, horns and all, to keep the funky vibe alive! Funk lovers of all ages danced until the rain came, and even then quite a few people couldn't stop the party, even as they were being soaked.
Bands on the Bricks will feature live music every Wednesday through August 12th, right in the middle of Pearl Street. So if you need to get your live music fix, this is the place to be this summer.
