When I see people crying about the deaths of folks they never knew, I think they must be crying over some part of their lives that has been lost. I suppose that certain celebrities embody a moment in time and their deaths are like a part of that time dying. That would certainly be the case with Michael Jackson. I remember wanting that red jacket with eleventy thousand zippers and falling over while trying to moonwalk. It's all gone now. Strangely, though, I felt like we lost this guy many years ago. His death almost seems to have happened twice.

While his talent goes unquestioned, his personal life was a train wreck. A case of arrested development, he was a spoiled brat who always had to have his own way and like most people with too much money, he usually got what he wanted. I feel sorry for all the children he molested, but not so much for him.

This is so sad and a total shock. He was surrounded by sharks who should have cared for him and helped him to be healthy. Michael and I go way back and Thriller was the 1st album I ever bought. I used to be so in love with him that I got jealous when he got into the bed w/ Billy Jean (in the music video). Does anyone remember how cute he was in the Say, Say, Say video? He had sooooooo much talent! I think that he only hung out with little boys to remember his lost childhood that was filled with hard work; I don't believe the hype that he had an unhealthy affinity. Michael Jackson is the man and is now a legend.

Obviously nobody saw this coming, so that makes it all the more shocking and tragic. The news is sad, and when I heard the reports of his death, I got this cold shiver through my body. I wouldn't consider it sadness, but the realization that a piece of my childhood is gone. I, like many others, was born in the 80s, and could rarely turn on the radio without hearing an MJ song. The man may have been one of the strangest people on the planet, but he was also one of the best performers this world has seen. I think Paul McCartney put it best in saying that he lived his boyhood as a man and his manhood as a boy.

I've always found it quite amazing that a man can spend his entire life dedicating himself to pleasing so many people, only to make one mistake that would make the same people who loved him so much, turn on him as if they've never been blessed with a song that changed their entire lives! Of all the people in the world, Michael should never be seen as a hindrance to our society. People have done far worse without leaving a trace of anything good behind.

May God watch over his family and continue to pray for his family in this difficult time. In this hard time may we all be a little more kinder with the words you pic to say about him. You can no longer hurt him, he's in a better place you can only hurt his children and his Mother and Father and his siblings. Find it in your heart to help them find peace like he wanted us to have threw his music. TEMPLE HILLS MD

I think it's really sad about the news of Michael Jackson. He had weird behavior, but beyond that, be brought so much talent & enjoyment to people. It's sad to hear that his life ended today. He was in inspiration to so many people. I listened to some of his music back in the 90's, & I just say, he had some of the greatest talent of all. It's sad that he lost his way a little bit in life...but he should be remembered in the most honorable way possible. I know somewhere deep down inside of your heart, you were a true & genuine person. Rest in Peace Michael. Your music lives on. Christina~
