Years ago, before the marriage and the kids, I ran into Gwen Stefani at a Diddy party at a spot called the Hollywood Canteen in Los Angeles. I forget what year. Parties can be a blur but it was before 2002 when I moved to Atlanta. She was very pretty in person and very nice. There was no entourage really. She was just relaxing and enjoying and she was very comfortable, as well as very approachable. Some people's smiles really do serve as a gateway to their hearts and, for me, Gwen's smile has always lit up a room. I haven't always had good celebrity encounters, especially when I'm not holding a tape recorder where they kinda got to be nice, but I'm glad to report that Gwen Stefani was so genuinely sweet, not to mention classy.
