John Fogerty might have seen a “bad moon arising” and “trouble on the way,” but he could not have known what an epic saga his band’s story would become. There are too many lineup changes and lawsuits to get into here, but in the end, two original backing members of CCR (drummer Doug Clifford and bassist Stu Cook) formed the pseudo-reunion outfit Creedence Clearwater Revisited in 1995—without Fogerty. Ironically, one of Revisited's guitarists was, briefly, former Cars guitarist Elliot Easton—who apparently liked the faux-union lifestyle so much, he went on to help form the New Cars.
