Adrian Young, Gwen Stefani and Tony Kanal in 1989. The trio, along with Gwen's older brother Eric, formed the core of No Doubt, who began to develop a strong local following in Orange County, Calif., in the late '80s. Guitarist Tom Dumont had also just joined the group, in 1988, after dropping out of a local metal band.
