Dark Venue W/O A/C or Ventilation

Attended a show here recently and it was over 80 degrees in there, no fans, no air conditioning. Leaves a lot to be desired if youre looking for a comfortable and great sounding concert experience. Also, there was no security pat down so everyones arms were up holding cameras all night, kind of annoying if youre on the floor.

I noticed how warm it was inside as there seemed to be no ventialtion. So you are sure to get lots of second hand smoke from all the pot smoking in the upstairs rear of the place. Even security is aware of the crowd nearly passing out from the heat because they occassionally sprayed the crowd with water hoses! This is ridiculous and irresponsible. Then after barely surviving or should I say tolerating this to see one of my favorite bands I walked around to the rear to see if I could see the band walk out to their bus. The unprofessional security guard told me to leave the area immediately. When I asked why there were no signs saying I was on private property she replied that the "venue" owned the entirre alley. I laughed at her so she sent 3 male rent a guards to threaten to remove us with physical force! I stood and waited for them to touch me but they knew they had no authority and did not actually own the very public alley.

People who see a show at the Gothic now scarcely recall the burned out shell of a music hall the place used to be. Talk about a renovation. 20 years ago you might have been rained on through the roof or fought a rat for a front row seat, but those days are long gone thanks to a multimillion dollar makeover. Decorative plaster moldings cup hidden lights and hark back to the heyday of 1920’s golden age of cinema. The bookings can be a little schizophrenic—from jazz to all ages grungy death metal, but the room—and all its multiple tiers resonates with history.
