Good or bad, they just can’t keep a secret

Do tattletales act out of self-interest, or out of a burning need to reveal a necessary truth to the world? And once a tattle has been told, will the tattler be celebrated or condemned for their candor?
Many films have pondered the dilemmas of the tattletale, the latest of which—Steven Soderbergh’s (“Ocean’s Eleven”) based-on-a-true story exposé “The Informant!,” about a delusional whistleblower (Matt Damon) who assists the government in taking down a shady agricultural firm—opens Sept. 18.
Before seeing what happens when Damon opens his big yap, peruse our look back at ten—wait, make that eleven—of the movies’ most memorable tattletales and the consequences they faced (meaning that major plot spoilers lie ahead). Sure, you can refuse. But, if you do, we’re totally telling!
