Making of '127 Hours'

James Franco, Danny Boyle and more on bringing Aron Ralston's story to the screen

Following up the Oscar winning “Slumdog Millionaire” was no small challenge for director Danny Boyle.

So he turned to a story that many thought couldn’t possibly be made into a movie: The true life tale of mountain climber Aron Ralston, who was forced to amputate his own arm to survive after being trapped under a boulder for days.

Boyle selected James Franco to play Ralston, and all three men—along with writer Simon Beaufoy and composer A.R. Rahman, both “Slumdog” vets—recently discussed what went in to making this unique movie.
