'Good Dick' review

A video store clerk (Jason Ritter) who lives out of his car becomes infatuated with an enigmatic customer (Marianna Palka) who rents porn and never wants to make conversation. He begins hanging around her apartment and tries to start a relationship even though all she does is berate him.

The verdict: Another indie that wears its quirks and gritty "realism" a little too proudly, "Dick" gets a big boost from the immensely likable Ritter. But writer-director-star Palka does herself no favors in the tricky and off-putting female lead role (neither character actually has a name). Why are we supposed to care about someone so nasty? It's a basic question that the film tries to be too cool to actually answer.
