Law Abiding Citizen: User Reviews
this movie doesn't require a lot of thought which made it an easy choice. Gerard Butler's character maintained my sympathy throughout the movie. Even with all the killing. I almost wanted there to be more at risk with the other characters. Jamie Foxx gets off easy but I thought the creativity and high stakes invloved with each murder added to the suspense while helping to maintain my interest in the film. I am curious if the main characters would be as sympathetic if the actors roles had been reversed. But then again you would have had to have Will Smith play Gerard Butler.
Report This ReviewThe action and violence was good, well done and believable, but the plot was conflicted in that you have the typical vengeful "take things into my own hands" guy - who you are supposed to feel sorry for - but then they turn him into the guy you are supposed to hate.
Report This ReviewHere's the real poop for those who want to know if they should blow eight bucks on a ticket. This film has one feature that ordinary movie goers want the most: The movie you see is exactly what is promised in the trailers. It's a basic revenge film, a relative of The Bourne Ultimatum, Falling Down, and Man on Fire. Make my Day, anyone? It concerns an ordinary man whose violent reaction to personal tragedy is as easy to understand as it is fun to watch. Like all good genre movies it wins by sticking to the formula, adding just a few creative twists. The writing and acting are solid, and the plot offers sufficient explanation to suspend our disbelief. My wife and I both enjoyed it despite the lack of a love-interest subplot. The only disappointment was the inevitable end of his killing spree. Comparing online ratings from viewers and critics shows yet again why professional hacks are writing for the newspaper instead of developing scripts in Hollywood.
