Correct that some of these, like "City of God" should definitely be included. Gladiator is one of those movies that most critics nowadays don't see as a great film (even though it won best picture that year), but I'd argue it's at least still Top 50. I agree Traffic is a good film, but I don't have a problem with it (and I disagree with the "alternative lifestyle" comment as well. Kind of silly to say that when the vast majority of these films don't deal with being gay, and it IS one of the best movies of the decade).

This list is just awful. While it does have some very good selections There Will Be Blood, Pans Labyrith, Requiem For A Dream, and Memento. It also includes Artificial Intelligence, Where the Wild Things Are, Solaris, Adaptation, and Ratatouille (not even in the top 5 Pixar movies). Just awful.

this list is no good. Way too taste specific. i dont agree with half. no blow, crash? some of the movies that are on there are out of order as well. no love for comedies as well. awful

Ths list lost serious credibility when "In the Bedroom" was not included anywhere in Top 50. Should have been in at least in the Top 5. In my opinion, it was the most riveting and best acted movie of the decade. I saw it in 2001 and I still think about the movie regularly.

This is about the worst Top 50 movie list I have seen. No Aviator, Crash, Traffic. But we have Brokeback Mountain? Do I need to be a member of the alternative lifestyle to be on this list? What a joke.

Your list sucks. Where is Gladiator? Sin City? No Bourne Movies? The Prestige?

When i saw 'There Will Be Blood' i knew it was not just another pizza movie. i knew it was a great achievement, like 'Once Upon A Time in The West'. i think my favorite scene in 'Ratatouille' is when the entire group of chefs stand in awe.

Zodiac is bogus. Rataouille was good but not as good as Up and not even close to Wall-E. AI: Artificial intelligence sucks as does the The Proposal (which is why it isn't on the list). Look you people need to realize while the Academy Awards recognizes great movies, it often snubs others. Just because it was nominated for something doesn't mean it was great. OH and the Bourne series is HIGHLY overrated as is Amelie

The best movie was Little Miss Sunshine, I looked at your list just to see where you put it and its not even on there. It was nominated for best picture, so I dont think its just me. Not everybody wants to just watch unrealistic action/special effects and war movies. Everybody thinks their family is messed up then you watch this film and realize most families are just as bad if not worse than yours. Now thats reality!

This list has most of the best movies, but the order is way out of whack! Eternal Sunshine as number 1? This is the type of movie that a non cinema-phile would classify as a good "artsy" movie, personally I think this movie is too heavy handed in its ambition. But thank you for "Children of Men" as #2!!!! Most of these on the list are probably on there for being "ground breaking" probably only in their subject matter. Since this list lacks a strong showing of historical dramas, I would have to throw in "The Proposal." There are some animated films but "Up" is missing. And, there were some terrific comedies that are missing too.

@wesley29 - I think you might have missed "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" at #30 and "The Royal Tenenbaums" at #21. Other films that can be considered comedies depending on your point of view: "Lost in Translation," "Adaptation.," "Wonder Boys," "Catch Me If You Can," "Me and You and Everyone We Know," "Happy-Go-Lucky." Also don't dismiss animation so quickly, "Finding Nemo" and "Wallace and Gromit" would deserve to be on any list of the decade's best comedies. It's tough to represent comedies on a list of the best--most comedies aren't that well made compared to other films. And humor is so subjective that one person's "funniest movie ever" can be someone else's total nightmare.

"City of God" is a great movie, the Sun-Times and Tribune both picked it as the 2nd best pic of 2003, now it can't crack the top 50 of the decade? "Mystic River", "In The Bedroom", and "Almost Famous" belong on the list as well.

It's official, Metromix has no sense of humor. Not one comedy made this list, unless it was cartoon. Artificial Intelligence? Ratatouille? Zodiac? These shouldn't even have made the Top 50 - let alone the Top 20. Is this one of those pick by committee deals where someone who knows nothing about movies, but thinks they do, gets a vote?

@Beecher72 - I agree, the Bourne series should be on here! I'd also add: Amelie and Wet Hot American Summer.

Zodiac was a ridiculous movie, and no "Hangover"?! One of the funniest movies of all time.

Where are the Bourne series? There are a number of great films listed but for intelligent action the Bourne trilogy was easily the best of the genre in this decade. Gross oversight!
