You loved the movie, what about the DVD?

Find out as we examine the extras on this week's best movie DVDs...

“YOU DON’T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN”
Stars:
Adam Sandler, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rob Schneider
Director: Dennis Dugan (“I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry”)
Formats: Single-disc DVD, Two-disc DVD, Blu-ray
What we said: "Recommended for the drunken college guy in all of us ... the funniest Adam Sandler movie since Big Daddy."

Extras: Single-disc DVD: Commentary by Sandler, Schneider, actor Nick Swardson and writer Robert Smigel; a second commentary by Dugan; deleted scenes; featurettes: “Dugan: The Hands On Director,” “The Stunts of ‘Zohan’,” “Dugan Espanol?,” “Zohan vs. the Phantom,” “Shooting Baja For Tel Aviv,” “All American Redneck,” “From Guns To Scissors,” “The Robot” and “Laughing Is Contagious.”
Two-disc DVD: All of the above extras plus a digital copy and even more featurettes: “Zohan’s Doubles,” “Getting Sticky,” “News On 3: Missing Goat,” “News On 3:  Who is the Zohan?,” “News On 3:  It’s Very Good.”
Blu-ray: All of the above extras plus both the theatrical and unrated versions of the film; “Translating the Zohan” graphic-in-picture track.

Worth watching: The commentary with Sandler, Schneider, et al., which is, at times, funnier than the movie.
Worth skipping: The commentary by Dugan, since he’s all alone in the booth, which means he has to do all the talking.
Worth adding: Yet another commentary, with Schneider spending the entire time flirting with Chriqui, until she finally gets fed up and slaps him.

“THE HAPPENING”
Stars:
Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel, John Leguizamo
Director: M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”)
Formats: DVD, Blu-ray
What we said: "The true disaster on display in The Happening is Shyamalan's career hitting rock bottom."

Extras: DVD: Five featurettes: “The Hard Cut,” “I Hear You Whispering,” “A Day for Night,” “Elements of a Scene” and “Visions of ‘The Happening’: A Making Of”; deleted scenes with intros by Shyamalan; gag reel.
Blu-ray: All of the above plus scene specific picture-in-picture option; “Train Shooting” and “Forces Unseen” featurettes; digital copy.

Worth watching: The gag reel, if only because you wouldn’t think anything funny would ever happen on an Shyamalan set.
Worth skipping: The “A Day for Night” featurette, since nothing funny happens when you actually follow Shyamalan around with a camera all day.
Worth adding: The Shyamalan sketches from “Robot Chicken,” which are very, very funny.

Buy, rent or ignore: Rent.

“THE VISITOR”
Stars:
Richard Jenkins, Hiam Abbass, Haaz Sleiman
Director: Thomas McCarthy (“The Station Agent”)
Format: DVD, Blu-ray
What we said: "Scores by expanding its scope beyond the hot-button issue of illegal immigration to encompass themes of friendship and breaking free of a stifling routine."

Extras: Commentary by Jenkins and McCarthy; “The Visitor: An Inside Look” and “Playing the Djembe” featurettes; deleted scenes; trailer.

Worth watching: The commentary, if only because this is one of those rare occasions where a seasoned character actor like Jenkins gets to be the star, and this lets us hear him and his director talk about it.
Worth skipping: The “Playing the Djembe” featurette, because watching it will make you wish you had one, and with everything going on in the financial markets, this isn’t a good time to invest in a new percussion instrument.
Worth adding: “Hey, It’s That Guy,” a featurette on Jenkins' career as a character actor whose name you can never remember.

Buy, rent or ignore: Rent.
