Three Showtime series. One night. All free.
Sunday, Showtime will offer the season returns of three serio-comedies: House of Lies, Californication and Shameless. But if you're not a subscriber, don't worry: The returns are timed to the premium cable's free preview weekend.
Should you turn to the best of the three, House of Lies, at 10 ET/PT, you'll find the show is shifting its focus a bit. Where the first season was built around the corporate consultants' case of the week, the second is more focused on the consultants themselves.
"It definitely fuels a much bigger portion in my opinion in the show this year," says Kristen Bell. "The procedural aspect of each episode has been altered a bit. … It's more about these people."
As part of that personal shift, House of Lies is also adding Larenz Tate as the brother of Marty, the character played by star Don Cheadle. "That adds some tension," Cheadle says.
House of Lies, however, isn't the only show with changes. Over at Shameless, airing at 9 ET/PT, they've cut William H. Macy's hair, which he says certainly made his friends happy.
Otherwise, though, things at Shameless are as over-the-top as ever. "They've installed special lo-cal scenery," says Macy, "I've been eating so much of it."
Californication, starring David Duchovny, starts its sixth season Sunday at 10:30.
