The Miracle Worker

This story focuses on another aspect of Helen Keller's life, following Anne Sullivan who is a teenager fresh out of an institute for the blind to care for Helen. Anne soon senses Helen's bright mind and uses her intense determination to give Helen the gift of language and world fame. This is a very powerful play that debuted on Broadway more than 50 years ago.
Polkanauts
- The Irish Rover - 54 S. Broadway - Denver
Interplanetary musicians the Polkanauts set a course for the Irish Rover. Dressed in orange NASA suits and playing a sort of rockish jam-polka, the Polkanauts describe their sound as "the haunting echoes found at the bottom of an empty mug of beer." To help prepare yourself for space travel, the Rover offers $3 car bombs and shots of Jager.
Twice a week Ziggies - Colorado's oldest blues joint - throws an open blues jam where amateurs can play with the pros. Hosted by the Doc Brown Blues Band, Mojambus, The Mike Maurer Band or Papa Juke this is a great opportunity to play some licks and pick up some pointers from Denver's most respected bluesmen.

Asleep At The Wheel

While he learned to play guitar in Philadelphia, Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel's sound is all Texas. A mixture of big band, swing, Americana and country-western, Asleep has been wowing audiences across the country and the globe for over 30 years. They have released more than 20 studio albums and have charted more than 20 singles on the Billboard country charts. They play with the Mother Truckers and the Unknown Americans.
Jeremy Enigk
- Larimer Lounge - 2721 Larimer St. - Denver
Jeremy Enigk, the former front man for Seattle's Sunny Day Real Estate, comes to the Larimer Lounge as a solo act. While the SDRE rhythm section went on to national prominence in the Foo Fighters, Enigk taught himself to play everything from the harp to the drums and his debut album Return of the Frog Queen was widely hailed as exposing the psychedelic underbelly of modern emo-core. He is joined by Nathan Meese and Joseph Pope III.
Drowning Pool
- The Marquis Theater - 2009 Larimer St. - Denver
Despite the death of lead singer Dave Williams in 2002, Dallas' Drowning Pool has soldiered on releasing three studio albums and touring continuously. The four-piece metal band gained recognition after playing Ozzfest and their first album sold 1.5 million copies. They play the Marquis with Jet Black Stare and Elision.
