Designers take to the battlefield
With fashion reality shows like "Project Runway" gaining huge momentum these days, it’s no surprise that last night's fashion event at the Denver Art Museum was a serious hit. The DAM hosts their “Untitled” series throughout this summer on the last Friday of every month. Last night was Untitled No. 23: Style Wars. Local fashion designers engaged in a competition where they are given a random assortment of materials such as old thrift store clothes, material, bubble wrap and car sun visors and have 25 minutes to create an amazing outfit for their model to strut on the catwalk.
The final results were an incredible showcase of the talent of local designers such as Kotomi Yoshida, Francis Roces, Mondo Guerra, and Baily Rose. Upcoming DJs Wigdan Giddy and the Postman were supplied beats and there was a variety of food and beverages for the crowd to enjoy as they watched the designers quickly assemble their masterpieces. After the allowed time was up, each model made their way down the catwalk, showcasing the brilliance of each designer. Mondo Guerra ended up taking first place with his two-toned look accented with a cluster of color on the shoulder. The Untitled No. 23 event also included a dance tribute to Michael Jackson, as well as a theatrical short from the Buntport Theatre.
The Untitled series will continue in August and September, be sure to check it out!
