Pretzel eating, beer drinking, lederhosen-wearing men of Denver
There is just something so exciting watching grown men take the stage in a competition that questions their dignity and courage. Yes, we're talking about Mr. Oktoberfest. 10 men in Denver came out to test their skills at chicken dancing, modeling, beir stein filling and pretzel eating at the 40th Annual Oktoberfest.
Some men didn't get the memo that wearing lederhosen is encouraged, but when you have all men acting silly and strutting their stuff, they get kudos either way.
The competition began when they had to model on the runway...and it turned out they had to schmooze the judges on this category. Metromix's very own producer, Erica Boniface, was a judge who ended up getting picked up and flipped by one of the contestants, earning him five points for the risk-taking.
All contestants were good sports about it, which was a good thing. Their names ranged from "Moose Knuckle" to "Chocolate Thunder" garnering many laughs from the crowd that gathered around the stage.
In the end? A man wearing no lederhosen won the title of Mr. Oktoberfest 2009, but all men walked away winners in our book.
